Litter pick on way to work

Coventry,CV6 5BD

The towpath has been getting very messy lately and there have been lots of bits gathering in the water by the reeds. Instead of make my way with a litter picker (this is a lot of effort - carrying and using and transporting in my backpack when finished to and from work), I decided to go back to basics with just my gloves. I spotted a box which funnily enough said 'Do not throw away' (*rolls eyes*) on it - a firework box actually (I believe these should be banned or at least only let off by big companies in empty car parks not in places where animals have to be fearful of their lives more than usual!) picked it up and was aiming to pick one thing a day this week but managed to fill it with a full plastic bag of discarded tin cans and a couple other empty plastic bags. .

Erdington Litter Busters
Erdington Litter Busters was founded in June 2018 by Rob Gunnell. The idea was to start cleaning up Erdington bit by bit, then grow into a community of volunteers who could keep the area clean. Now we have some support, and a growing group of us meet up twice a month on Saturday mornings near Six Ways island, clear different areas, and have a friendly coffee afterwards. The more people that help us, the greater the difference we can make - and people are already seeing the area improving.
