'Spring Clean' 2015

17 Debdale Road ,Northampton,NN3 2TR

24 Apr 2015

23:00

Saturday 25th April, 2015, 10.00am-4.00pm As usual we are looking for volunteers to help! Come for an hour or all day - it’s up to you! The work will possibly include: general litter picking & tidying, clearing vegetation from paths, planting or weeding flower beds, and conservation work. Come and make a difference! Meet between the Bull Ring and the Ponds; Tools and protective gloves provided. Free refreshments available. Please send text to 07 910 161 275 or email vicsmith.foep@gmail.com if you would like a cooked lunch! Some volunteers collected litter (a total of 15 bags during the day) while others removed the lower branches from lime trees in the Bullring. These branches were a hazard to children and were preventing the grass from being machine cut. Some of the branches were later used to strengthen the 'dead hedge' protecting the culvert near the top pond; others will be used in the weeks ahead to create wildlife habitats.

Fifteen adults and four children took part in the ‘spring clean’ itself. Another two adults and three teenagers prepared and served a cooked lunch for the workers. Bags of litter were removed from the Park by NBC Park Rangers. .
