So called because I have it on good authority that a few 'certain types' of people frequent this route depositing their empties along the way! Do not fear though this is a popular and very pretty walking route for the lovely people of Carlton and surrounding villages, and very few are drunk! 🤣 Meeting by the front gates of the Carlton allotments on The Moor, Carlton 2pm meet - duration approx. 2 hours, followed by refreshments provided by co-ordinator. Route to follow public footpath to Harrold bridge area by riverside, where I'm sure we'll find more empty beers cans/bottles! Please wear long trousers as likely to be brambles and nettles along this route! If you are not currently a member of our group, please contact the Group co-ordinator listed on this group 's page, Thank you. Just three Green Army volunteers were able to make the 'booze run' event.
It was a spectacularly hot day, and many vodka bottles cleared from the ditch which bordered the public footpath towards Carlton allotments. Also cleared was the Carlton road between Harrold and Carlton. We finished clearing the lay-by next to the Harrold bridge traffic lights and down by the riverside there. Sadly just as I was collecting up the glass bottles, a load of travellers turned up for a picnic by the river and as soon as doors were opened out was thrown litter. I explained to one of them that we had just finished a volunteer litter pick by the river so please leave tidy. I Returned to the riverside that we'd meticulously cleaned up later on when they had left. There was a shocking mess of litter strewn everywhere and I collected another two full sackfuls!!! .
