09.30-11.00 - Meet at Skiddaw Walk entrance to Eastfield Park. Throughout October and November, 2012, Friends of Eastfield Park (FoEP) are organising litter picking activities in and around Eastfield Park on a weekly basis. Litter picking equipment / protective gloves provided. No need to stay for the whole time. Activity will only be cancelled if the weather is very bad! (Phone 07910161275 on day to check) Four people joined in 'Away With Litter 7' and managed to do an hour's litter-picking before the rain started. They collected eight sacks of rubbish plus a pane of broken glass, some wood with nails sticking out of it and an old tyre (so we are counting it as nine bags). Everything was taken to the waste disposal facility in Ecton Lane but they wouldn't accept the tyre. Does anybody know where we can get rid of it for recycling without cost and with the minimum of inconvenience?.
