Friends of Eastfield Park have decided to organise a number of short 'one-off' events during November, 2013, aimed at making the Park cleaner and tidier. Each event will concentrate of one particular activity as follows: Litter Picking: Fridays 1st, 15th & 29th November (9.30-11.00am). Meet Vic Smith at the Greenfield Avenue entrance to the Park and work anywhere within the Park (or surrounding area if preferred). Litter pickers, gloves, black sacks, etc. provided. Tidying up the areas in and around the ponds: Wednesdays 13th & 27th Nov. (10.00am-12noon) and Saturday 23rd (1.30-3.30pm). Meet Vic near the dipping platform on the top pond. Equipment provided but wear suitable old clothes. The work will still take place if there is light rain but will be cancelled if there is heavy rain or strong winds (H&S concerns!) Work carried out in November included repairing the dead hedges around the culvert carrying the stream flowing into the top pond and cleaning the nearby steps leading away from the pond. We also cleared some of the vegetation in front of the pond and removed another five bags of litter. Over 200 daffodil bulbs (additional to the ones put in during the autumn tidy-up) were planted near the top pond and in the tail of the 'Eastfield Monster'. Most of this work was carried out by Vic Smith, Chair of the FoEP, and Park Ranger, Jason Toyne. Much more could have been achieved by a larger group of volunteers..
