Meet at the Holmes Lane/Ermine Street crossroads at noon to Litter-Pick Ermine Street heading towards the A1077. Please ring Anita to book your equipment: 735439. We have enough tools for 8 volunteers and 4 are already spoken for - so hurry! We did it! Today we cleaned the last 1.5 miles of Ermine Street to reach the A1077. I knew we could do it! We filled 86 sacks on the way. Other finds included a 45 gallon drum, assorted other drums, buckets, exhausts, car parts, the remains of a dead sheep, farm fertilizer sacks, several filled bottles (suspect urine), heavy electric pylon components, catering drums of mayonnaise with the lids OFF (ugh!), big cushions, pet carrier (empty!), and a naughty magazine! Oh and our very first 'innocent drinks' carton! It was hard work with the ditches either side of the wide verges deep filled with litter . . . . but we did it! Well done to Ian, Judy and Len . . . and me!!!!!!! Special thanks to Len . . .
as we were nearing the end (which seemed to keep getting further away) his enthusiasm and encouragement kept me going! Thanks to Darren of Button's Wood (Winterton) for the loan of his works vehicle to relay the rubbish home ready for collection by North Lincs Council. Forthcoming Litter-Picks for the Appleby Litter-Pickers are going to be a breeze as we perform 'walk ups' of recently cleaned lanes. Can YOU help?
