The picker uppers

I am an individual who walks part of the Coventry canal to and from work everyday. I have only been walking along the canal since October 2017 despite being a Coventrian my entire life! It is the city's best kept secret and so peaceful and calm away from crowds and cars. But it makes me angry and sad to see such a beautiful habitat ruined with litter so I started picking litter! I usually pick on my way to/from work in the week but I plan to do more at the weekends and travel further to notoriously messy parts of the canal. We have 3 main aims ​ Improve the environment of Oadby, Wigston and South Wigston To work with Oadby and Wigston Borough Council to support the Borough's entry into East Midlands in Bloom Encourage and support community activities that will increase pride in our Borough

This estate clean up was organised by Matt Evans, Housing Officer of the area, and involved staff from the local Office, and contractors. The clean up involved clearing communal areas inside the flats, garages and the outside area. Going forward, it is hoped that a Residents Association will be formed, that will carry out litter picks and maybe start up a weekly gardening club.

Weston Litter Group was set up in 2010. We meet on the 1st Saturday of every month at the Moravian Church car-park (just off the High Street roundabout). We cover all areas of Weston, such as the High Street, The Rec, Southlands, Eastville Avenue, Broadmoor Lane, Cotswold Way etc. We have all our own equipment....McDonalds have kindly donated 10 litter grabbers, Chaplins Newsagents abled us to purchase 20 pairs of gloves and Bath & NE Somerset Council supply us with bags and a collection service. Group of five villages in the Parish trying to keep their area and lanes clean and safe

Fylde Litter Action Group (FLAG) is a partnership between Fylde Council departments and various other local organisations, street reps and voluntary groups that are concerned with tackling litter within the Fylde Council area, including the St Annes Beach Care Group, Fairhaven Coastal Care Group and The Friends of the Estuary Coastal Care Group in Lytham. FLAG has been set up with the ultimate aim of preventing dropped litter in the area. FLAG is also involved with educating on litter related issues by providing advice, information practical assistance and enforcement where needed. FLAG = WORKING TOGETHER FOR A CLEANER GREENER FYLDE!
