A family based clean up group here to clean our local beaches!

Currently most of the work is done by my Border Collie who collects crisp and other wrappers and plastic bottles. She then finds the nearest waste bin and puts the litter in it. She has been doing this for the past 5 years.

Recently I have been on a mission to clean up the litter in my local area and I need help from local people. The aim of the group is to tackle litter blackspots in Tonbridge and the surrounding area, especially around local woods, paths, parks and local playgrounds. Litter can be harmful to wildlife, and its not nice to see when walking in the local park with my son. I want to organise local litter picking/clean up days to improve the local environment for everyone. In times when the local councils are cutting funds for street cleaners the litter problem will be sure to get worse, we all have a responsibility to improve our local environment. We are a local volunteer group who will aim to regularly litter pick around our village and the main roads into our village.

I litter pick around Ventnor where needed once a month. Details of venue are usually in the South Wight Chronicle if any one wishes to join me. I have one or two regular volunteers, together with my dog Pistache.

We are a volunteer group of local residents tackling litter pollution and fly-tipping in the Stretford, Longford and Gorse Hill ward areas of Trafford through community-led action. Our mission is to make our neighbourhood a safer, cleaner and greener place for wildlife and residents to live and enjoy. We encourage our members to conduct solo litter picks and organise regular community clean-up events for those who want to make Stretford a litter-free zone. We also advocate for local and national initiatives that can help drive long-term environmental behaviour change, while working closely with Trafford Council, schools, local businesses and community groups to target problem areas and raise awareness about the damage caused by litter and fly-tipping.

The group now has over 100 members. It organises monthly litter picks, and members also litter pick in their own local areas.

An important part of our work is with young people. We have met with Junior schools, Brownies and Cubs, and talked about the reduction of litter and recycling.

We liaise with other environmental groups in the area, particularly those with similar aims to ours and we work closely with the local Borough Council.
