Litter picking in the town of Llanfyllin and the nearby countryside. Litterpicking equipment is available for loan for free from the local library - by arrangement. Semi annual picks are organised by the coordinator.

We conduct two litter picks a year and have done so since may 1997. Usually in May and October on a Saturday morning.

Local waterways

Recently I have been on a mission to clean up the litter in my local area and I need help from local people. The aim of the group is to tackle litter blackspots in Tonbridge and the surrounding area, especially around local woods, paths, parks and local playgrounds. Litter can be harmful to wildlife, and its not nice to see when walking in the local park with my son. I want to organise local litter picking/clean up days to improve the local environment for everyone. In times when the local councils are cutting funds for street cleaners the litter problem will be sure to get worse, we all have a responsibility to improve our local environment. Our groups main aim is to improve the local environment so that it looks cleaner and more presentable as the litter in the area is spoiling the look of where we live and work. We would like to bring together the working community of the business park in order to clean things up a bit by keeping the area litter free. We feel that this would be a great opportunity to meet some of our neighbours, get some gentle exercise and achieve something really valuable at the same time.

The Group operates under the aegis of the Town Council. Every Sunday morning, at 9.00, a small band of volunteers (open to anyone to attend) meets at the Civic Centre to conduct a 'swift-pick' in the worst-affected areas (finishing at about 11.00). The Campaign has moved onto taking small patches of public land in the town and overseeing planting out and maintenance. The town's annual beautiful gardens competition is organised by the Group. The Group joins the annual clear-up of the River Uck that flows through the town. Weeding pavements and cutting back undergrowth are also tasks that are taken on. Most of this work is concentrated on the town centre, but a network of 'litter pickers' is being gradually established on the estates around the town. Volunteers are provided with a hi-vi vest, a litter picking stick, gloves and refuse sacks - and we even have wheeled trolleys to take round with you to deal with the large amounts of litter on a Sunday morning. The Campaign has its own (Don't be a) "Mucky Duck" logo.

A voluntary group helping to keep Poldhu Beach as nature intended. We organise regular beach cleaning sessions, work with the National Trust to mantain and improve the environs whilst ensuring conservation is our watch word.

I joined my friend Ryan's group Clean Lincoln Everywhere And Now and we picked the virge and copse along am 800m stretch of Triton Rd in Lincoln. Afterwards I decided to attempt to manage it by litter picking, by bike, on my daily commute to and from work. I also join in with the Sincil Bank River Care team, when I can. I enjoy working in and on the water.

Feel free to join me in picking up litter from time to time. Cleaning up the countryside one bag at a time.

We will go out once a week over the weekend to pick up litter in the local area. Nice way to meet new people and tidy up the local area!
