We aim to tackle street and beach litter to protect nature

We meet on a Sunday morning, every other month, to walk around the whole village to clean up. There are over 20 volunteer names on our list!

We have about 350 members, and about 50 active .This year we have collected 3200 bags of rubbish

We co-ordinate activities for the CPRE litter campaign Stop the Drop in County Durham and Darlington. These include acting as a central focus to which reports of litter grot spots may be made; making regular personal contact with Local Authorities, Parish Councils and tourism organisations; organising litter picks throughout the county; spreading publicity for the Campaign; and taking a programme of litter-awareness education into local schools. Help the community to recycle and clean the environment

Currently most of the work is done by my Border Collie who collects crisp and other wrappers and plastic bottles. She then finds the nearest waste bin and puts the litter in it. She has been doing this for the past 5 years.
