Hertford Action on Rubbish and Trash

Sending an invitation to those in our local area who share my wish to enjoy our local environment without the litter-fringed roads and verges that so many seem to have accepted as the norm.

Handsworth Helping Hands is a voluntary group committed to improving the quality of life in Handsworth, Birmingham. This may be by carrying out environmental work such as street clean-ups and clearing and planting public spaces, or by helping residents with jobs they can't or don't have the means to do for themselves. Whenever possible, we recycle materials and items such as furniture and toys that we find on the street or which are donated to us.

The original Fylde Coast beach care group, we look after the shingle beach between the Five Bar Gate and The Venue at Cleveleys. Our core activities are a four weekly community beach clean and a monthly meeting - and throughout the year we do lots of other things to help to improve this beautiful stretch of coast for the people who use it and the wildlife which lives here. Oh, and we have a lot of fun and make a lot of friends - the community which we create is every bit as important as the litter which we pick up! Huntsham is a tiny village in mid Devon. For the last four years, Huntsham Society members and our local community (farmers and all) have joined forces twice a year to clean up all the many the lanes for a distance of 2-3 miles from the village; once in April before the verges are hidden in new growth, and once in October when the vegetation has died down and the litter can be seen. This April we had a turnout of over 100 helpers, including many children. We have recently combined our efforts with Mid Devon County Councils campaign to help keep Devon clean and green, also twice a year. It would be fantastic if neighbouring parishes could take up the challenge of keeping the lanes clear of litter.

Parish Council event

I am tired of seeing rubbish and dog fouling in my local area. We have a beautiful park and nature reserve and I'm seeing more and more fly tipping not just here but all around my local area. I am hoping there are like minded people out there who for a few hours whenever you can we can organise a clean up of the most blighted places and into the bargain get some much needed excercise and make a few friends along the way.
