Falkland Road Litter Pickers

A group for Menston residents who wish to keep their beautiful village looking it’s best and litter free. New members welcome!

We are a revitalised 'clean-up' group of some 20 years' standing which incorporated collaboration with other agencies such as the Environment Agency, TCV, Highways and Groundwork as well as improving communication with our LA, local farmers and schools. Our aims broadened to include two new elements, namely education on litter and LA backed health walks. The latter has enabled people to enjoy our rural pathways, which are now regularly litter-picked, and at the same time build up their stamina in walking for health. In 2011, through fundraising, we were able to purchase two community notice boards to further publicise local events and amenities and our aims. We were very grateful to Groundwork Merseyside for installing them. It continues to be very satisfying to see people reading the notices displayed there and to see some new helpers on our litter-picks and new walkers on our health walks as a result. Both noticeboards were renovated this year, 2018 with help from a grant from Cronton Parish Council, for which we thank them. Our LA, Knowsley MBC, has always been supportive but In recent years, due to funding cuts to LAs we have had reduced contact with them, although they continue to help us by removing the bags of litter we collect on our biannual litter picks. We forged links with one of our neighbouring LAs, Halton, with a view to liaising on littering of our border areas. They provided us with litter-pickers and bags. This has made a big difference to our effectiveness. Updated 24.3.2018

We are a group of residents in Hathershaw Oldham Lancashire and are passionate and dedicated to keeping our area and community clean and tidy with help from local authorities. I hope other communities will pluck up the courage and get out there to help your local area and community. We aim to organize new events and litter picks in the future. We try and strive to make a more pleasant area to live in and for visitors of the community to say "wow!" A resident clean up session will be on Sunday 30th June around the Hathershaw area. Quote: Someone asked me the other day and said your mad for picking up litter week in week out, so I said I ain't mad I'm happy to pick other people's mess it's a challenge for me, I get annoyed because people and kid's need educating but it's the attitudes I hate, well I cant be bothered and there's not enough bins ....so do something about it and buy some bins or ask your local council, truth is you could have ten litter bins in a line on a road but someone will drop it on the floor...ah well, me I will carry on regard less with my group until other people realise that we need to keep our streets, alleyways and parks clean...I rest my case your honour. We are a community group of volunteers who get together to clean up hotspot areas either known to need cleaning on a regular basis or responding to areas where residents have identified or raised concerns over.

We are a local volunteer group who will aim to regularly litter pick around our village and the main roads into our village.

We wish to live in a clean tidy safe environment. if you want to make a difference you have to get up and do something about. Our group litter picks regularly and several do it while dog walking. Like minded group of people who enjoy living in a litter free community. Litter costs nature and the environment we continue to strive to fight against this needless blight.

We are a group of local residents concerned about litter spoiling our environment. Our aim is to keep our area of Mid Sussex looking clean, tidy and litter free resulting in a more pleasant and safe environment for everyone and its wildlife to live in. The Houndwood Community Group’s activities are aimed at making the Houndwood and Icon new housing estate of nearly 400 homes situated in Street, Somerset, a better and safer place to live. We formed about 6 years ago and reorganised in 2017 into our current form.
