Sunday 27th march will see the Wombles try to get the entire town of Whitehead to be aware of just how much litter there is in the town and the surrounding area. I am trying to get all the churches, youth groups, schools, pubs and clubs involved to both clean up the litter and to help weed flower beds and clear community areas of winter growth. So far the local cubs, BB, Presbyterian church, community police, youth club and drama club have got involved. Numbers will be difficult to judge mainly down to the weather on the day but the church have agreed to lay on tea and sarnies for when we finish at 4pm. it should be a good spring clean for the town. .

These groups are near to you in case you want to contact them for advice, to offer them support or, for example, to share equipment with them.
An important part of our work is with young people. We have met with Junior schools, Brownies and Cubs, and talked about the reduction of litter and recycling.
We liaise with other environmental groups in the area, particularly those with similar aims to ours and we work closely with the local Borough Council.
