Our groups main aim is to improve the local environment so that it looks cleaner and more presentable as the litter in the area is spoiling the look of where we live and work. We would like to bring together the working community of the business park in order to clean things up a bit by keeping the area litter free. Hi, I'm Holly and I'm starting out litter picking to help make the area I live in cleaner and more attractive. I walk to work some days and I always marvel at how much rubbish there is, especially after bin collection days and it stays on the streets for weeks, so I wanted to do something about it! Alone but hopefully not for long, I have started picking litter in my area to make it a cleaner and more enjoyable place for everyone. I hope as I get more experience at this I can rally together the troops to start a regular litter picking group to help out and clean up Sopwell! Wycombe Marsh Community Environment Group
To improve and enhance Wycombe Marsh by way of environmental improvements for current and future residents and visitors to Wycombe Marsh. We work with residents, local authorities, other agencies, local businesses and social housing providers to identify and improve the area by way of regular litter picking and initiating and maintaining, with the owner’s permission, gardening activities on small undeveloped, uncared for areas of land.

Plus with help from our local businesses and authorities we will keep Oldham clean and suitable to live and work in.

Durham Coast
Durham's coastline is unique. Nowhere else in Britain has such a wonderful display of magnesian limestone coastal grasslands supporting a vast array of wildflowers and insects. Most of the coast is now designated as a National Nature Reserve with several Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The England Coast Path runs through the area and is becoming evermore popular with visitors. The beaches are improving after the impact of coal mining and coastal towns such as Seaham have seen a dramatic increase in tourism. The beaches still suffer from litter and are regularly cleaned by groups of keen volunteers. If you would like to join in please see the upcoming event section for more details. We can support groups who want to carry out their own event by supplying equipment (bags, litterpickers, gloves etc) and organising the safe collection and disposal of the rubbish bags after the event. Please pass this information on to anyone you think may be interested.

Village Action Litter Busters
We are part of the Frampton Cotterell and Coalpit Heath Village Action initiative. We aim to co-ordinate the efforts of local people in promoting awareness of the problem of litter; improving attitudes; and taking part in monthly organised litter picking, with the aim of keeping our villages pleasant and pretty. We know that many residents look after the roadsides and paths adjacent to their own homes and wish to encourage this. Some of our members carry chalk to mark dog fouling on pavements, to help people avoid stepping in it and to tell irresponsible dog owners that they should be clearing up after their pet. Litter picking can be very rewarding, and is an opportunity to get out and make new contacts in the village. Please get in touch if you can help in any way, however small. Please email us if there is any particular area in the village over which you have concerns about litter. In 2012 Nisa - Village Roots in Woodend Road gave us some funds and we have bought some hi-viz vests with 'Volunteer - Village Action Litter Busters' printed on them. We are grateful for their continuing support. South Glos Council support us with sacks, picker sticks and bag hoops. See Upcoming Events for dates and meeting points for monthly litter picks. Whitehead Wombles
Whitehead Wombles are a small group of people from the town of Whitehead who got fed up looking at the amount of litter on our streets and hedgerows and decided to do something about it. We only have a few members but we are committed to keeping the level of litter in the town to a minimum and hope that people will see us and think twice about dropping their litter. We are supplied with bags, gloves and pickers by our local council and last Oct we won an award for our coastal care work. Our aim is to educate people in the detrimental effects of littering and to work with as many groups within the town to co ordinate our efforts. We had a community clean up on Sunday 18th Sept 2011as part of the national Beach watch Weekend and received support of local groups and churches so for one day at least we had a litter free town. We lifted over 30 bags and had forty people of all ages turn out to help. This proved so successful that many of those involved wanted to run it on a quarterly basis so we'll see what we can do If anyone wants to set up a group and needs advice then contact us or follow our progress at the Brighter Whitehead site.
