Ilminster Party on the Park organised by the Mayor for residents to support local charity groups by visiting their stalls, listening to local music groups, joining in the tug-of-war comptetion and enjoying a hog roast. The event was well supported by Ilminster residents and others from the surrounding area. The event team had provided extra bins to supplement the fixed bins on the recreation ground. People came with picnics or bought food from the burger van, ice cream van or Gemini Carnival tea tent. The Shed (cricket and football) bar was in operation throughout the event. The bins were emptied by volunteers throughout the event (noon to 8pm), so litter was kept to a minimum, but excluding the bins which produced some 14 bags of rubbish a further 6 bags of litter was picked up. A final litter pick was carried out on the following morning. .
