Many thanks for your sterling effort today. We hauled out a lot less bags than we normally do. The burn unfortunately is still being used as a convenient place to discard your trash versus dropping it off at the tip or placing it in your bin. We found a few engine consumables such as oil filter, brake pads and braking cables and will need to follow up with Dickson to make sure that none of their waste is being thrown in the river. We were also horrified to see that raw sewage is being pumped into the burn and will have to follow up with the council. This is totally unacceptable in this age Unfortunately Fleurs park is littered with trash. Most of the rubbish that we collected came from this section. We will try and get the council to do a more thorough job to clean it up. Karin would you be able to send them an email and find out what they can do to keep the banks clean. A big thanks to Steve for dropping off all the garbage at waste busters.
If anyone has any suggestions for equipment or can come up with an idea for hauling the trash that we collect in the burn. While the handihoops keep the bags open, the garbage is water-logged and it makes the bag very heavy. We need some sort of sled or plastic skip. Best Wishes Adrian.
