Welcome to the Keep Stoke Tidy group. We are a small group of volunteers with an increasing concern about the litter across the city. It seems difficult to walk more than a few yards lately without coming across at least one discarded face mask, food wrapper or empty plastic bottle. Rather than choose to live with this we have decided to improve the situation by making a city-wide litter-picking network that we are calling ‘Keep Stoke Tidy’. Our aim is to make sure that every area of this wonderful city has an active litter picking group and through the wonder of social media we would like to support those groups in advertising litter picking events. For those areas that don’t have a litter picking group it would be great to see new ones start up. Throughout the year each group will continue to have their usual local litter picking days but with a larger network it would be brilliant to think that each month of the year we could vote for an area to focus on. We could then arrange an event with a larger group of volunteers, with as many people as possible from all of the other groups coming to work together to focus on that area. Our aim is to clean up local streets and countryside around the Crawley/Horsham/Copthorne areas. We are a new group and are keen for new volunteers.

We have about 350 members, and about 50 active .This year we have collected 3200 bags of rubbish

To improve the environment in Killamarsh

Winchester Litter Pickers were founded in 1995 when three people decided to do more about the litter problem in and around the City. Currently (December 2021) we have over 40 active volunteers and many more supporters. We think it is especially important to give visitors to Winchester a good impression of the City. During the summer months we tidy the Outer Close of the Cathedral daily in the late afternoon and on Monday mornings throughout the year we clear the approaches to the railways station. Twice a month on Wednesday mornings we clear suburban areas in turn, concentrating on the streets and open spaces near the local shops and in particularly bad black spots. We are very much into recycling, recovering the cans, glass and plastic bottles we collect wherever practicable. We are also keen to limit the damaging effects of plastic litter. We are a very sociable group and normally meet up for hot drinks and chats after our litter picks. We also have a very popular annual party. I am a walker / runner living in the St Cleer, Liskeard area fed up with seeing discarded litter cluttering the country lanes and endever to do a litter pick every Saturday morning following a 5k circuit around the villages. We are a small group of Volunteers passionate about keeping our Town and Country clean. We get out and about most days collecting rubbish from our hedgerows, parks and walks. We are happy to work with other local groups and organisations including educational talks and bringing awareness to this problem we have in our Towns and Country. Must of us within the group have mental health problems and or unseen disabilities and discovered walking and hiking helps with our day to day depression and anxiety and by collecting rubbish on our walks also gives us purpose and feelings of achievement. Clean Street Exmouth endeavours to keep the town clean and tidy by co-opting individuals who volunteer to adopt their street or area. We supply postcards for them to deliver to neighbours which invite them to help keep their street clean on a day-by-day basis. We also supply a postcard which adopters can use to organise 1-hour street cleans involving litter and weed removal. We cooperate with the district and town council cleaning services eg: joint 1-hour cleans to recruit new adopters and to show the improvement residents can make.
