Bridleway clear up - Hay Lane, Kempston Rural

I cleared the entranceway and a bridleway path today at the top of Hay Lane in Kempston Rural. In just a short distance I had filled a full sack of litter and also found 5 wine bottles! During a lovely horse-ride on a sunny day yesterday in Kempston Rural, I came across litter which had been dropped along the bridleway, and litter left by motorists who had used the entranceway to park up for a snack. I figured I would return the following day equipped to clear this up and that it would only take me 10 minutes or so. In reality it took me more that half and hour, as no sooner had I started I found much more hidden litter than I had previously anticipated! Strangest find: Used Pregnancy Test!! Worst find: Filled dog poo bag (and I was going to have to transport home in my car). Trash Treasure?: Not this time I'm afraid! Best Bit: Meeting a local resident and dog walker who said that she lived along the lane, and said that I had inspired her to do some litter picking too!.

Appleby Litter Pickers!
We are a small group of volunteers who go out and about armed with litter picking sticks, hoops and bags collecting discarded litter from the paths and verges around our beautiful village and surrounding area. We are proud of where we live and by keeping the lanes and village litter free it shows we care about our community. We meet on a regular basis, usually at the weekend, tackling the area road by road. We try and keep Risby Road, Ermine Street north and south of the village for a couple of miles in each direction as well as within the village itself clear of litter. Sometimes we go further afield if the urge takes us! We welcome your support. Details of the forthcoming Litter-Pick dates may be found here on the Litter action website, on the village website (www.appley-lincs.co.uk) on the village notice board and on the village FaceBook Group (residents will need to join to see the information). We are supported by North Lincolnshire Council who collect the sacks of litter from our home for which we are very grateful. While we are always pleased to welcome new helpers to our small group of volunteers, if you can't help but wish to show your support please give us a toot on your horn and a cheery wave (and a wide berth) when you see us - a spot of encouragement goes a long way! Little could be said to beat the sense of achievement when you have litter picked the beautiful lanes surrounding our village. The countryside is transformed! Getting rid of litter really DOES make a difference!

Hi, I'm Holly and I'm starting out litter picking to help make the area I live in cleaner and more attractive. I walk to work some days and I always marvel at how much rubbish there is, especially after bin collection days and it stays on the streets for weeks, so I wanted to do something about it! Alone but hopefully not for long, I have started picking litter in my area to make it a cleaner and more enjoyable place for everyone. Triton Road cycle picker
I joined my friend Ryan's group Clean Lincoln Everywhere And Now and we picked the virge and copse along am 800m stretch of Triton Rd in Lincoln. Afterwards I decided to attempt to manage it by litter picking, by bike, on my daily commute to and from work. I also join in with the Sincil Bank River Care team, when I can. I enjoy working in and on the water.
