West Didsbury/Northenden

Lady Bay Litterpickers no longer functions as a group. Instead, individuals are issued with equipment to litterpick an area of Lady Bay of their choice, usually the streets immediately around their home and at times convenient to them. If you would like to be involved in this new style of litterpicking, please get in touch - sian.trafford@ntu.ac.uk . Be assured, however, that our aims are still to keep Lady Bay as one of the best places to live, and to generate pride in our community.

Recently I have been on a mission to clean up the litter in my local area and I need help from local people. The aim of the group is to tackle litter blackspots in Tonbridge and the surrounding area, especially around local woods, paths, parks and local playgrounds. Litter can be harmful to wildlife, and its not nice to see when walking in the local park with my son. I want to organise local litter picking/clean up days to improve the local environment for everyone. In times when the local councils are cutting funds for street cleaners the litter problem will be sure to get worse, we all have a responsibility to improve our local environment. Starting from a group of two, and hoping to grow, the mantra is 'if it's being dropped, then it needs picking up' ...we are going to fulfil this task, and hope this encourages less dropping, and more picking! If you see rubbish, don't tell us, pick it up yourself!

Participants from Pangbourne and surrounding area who contribute to an annual Spring Clean tidy up of river meadows, hedgerows and footpaths. Supported in particular by Pangbourne Parish Council and Pangbourne & Whitchurch Sustainability Group.

Ilminster Forum is the local regeneration group that helps implement community projects for the benefit of the town and its residents identified through the Community Plan.

The aim of the group is to tackle litter blackspots mainly around local woods, paths, parks and public spaces that are not regularly maintained by the council

Highgate area

Currently most of the work is done by my Border Collie who collects crisp and other wrappers and plastic bottles. She then finds the nearest waste bin and puts the litter in it. She has been doing this for the past 5 years.

Banishing litter from Hortham Village and its surroundings

Sulgrave Parish Council aims to provide an environment that the community is proud of and encourages volunteer effort to ensure the roads, verges and hedgerows in and around the village are kept clear of litter. Litter Pick are organised twice a year and many of the villagers will participate in the event.
