Local Streets

I have started picking up litter at my local playing field and I collect it from my street. It upsets me that people have no regard or respect for the area that they live and I have decided to do something about it.

Tewkesbury Friends of the Earth, are a friendly and eclectic group of people interested in working to raise awareness of environmental problems locally, nationally and globally. We meet regularly to litter pick. We also have a Facebook page.

The Tower Hamlets Beautiful Borough Project aims to help residents in Tower Hamlets to take control of their neighbourhood and to clean it up, enabling people not only to live in more pleasant surroundings but also to get to know each other better and make their community safer and friendlier

We litter pick Mile End Park, Tower Hamlets on the second Sunday of every month. We meet at 10am by the Art Pavilion which is by Clinton Road and just off Grove Road. We generally do a couple of hours. We can\'t do the whole park in two hours so we generally head north one month and south the next. Litter pickers, gloves, plastic litter bags, and hoops for the bags are supplied. We collapse in a heap at the end in The Coffee Room afterwards and reward ourselves with cake and coffee, and a good old chit chat.

We are a group of residents in Hathershaw Oldham Lancashire and are passionate and dedicated to keeping our area and community clean and tidy with help from local authorities. I hope other communities will pluck up the courage and get out there to help your local area and community. We aim to organize new events and litter picks in the future. We try and strive to make a more pleasant area to live in and for visitors of the community to say "wow!" A resident clean up session will be on Sunday 30th June around the Hathershaw area. We will be having another community clean up this month so all volunteers get ready. Quote: Someone asked me the other day and said your mad for picking up litter week in week out, so I said I ain't mad I'm happy to pick other people's mess it's a challenge for me, I get annoyed because people and kid's need educating but it's the attitudes I hate, well I cant be bothered and there's not enough bins ....so do something about it and buy some bins or ask your local council, truth is you could have ten litter bins in a line on a road but someone will drop it on the floor...ah well, me I will carry on regard less with my group until other people realise that we need to keep our streets, alleyways and parks clean...I rest my case your honour. We carry out and organise monthly beach clean-ups on Crosby and Waterloo beaches. We also try to raise awareness of plastic pollution and what it does to wildlife and our environment.

We are taking litter picking in to our own hands. We are fed up with plastic bags and rubbish littering our streets, blowing in to our gardens and spoiling our pavements. We are proud of where we live and want to encourage others to care for our streets as we do. Our vision is for a clean environment for our families and friends. We are an open group and welcome anyone to join.

Fishponds Clean Streets was established in 2016 and is run by a few volunteers with the aim of helping keep the streets cleaner of litter. There was an extended period owing to COVID restrictions when we were not able to operate, however we are back up and running again now. We usually meet for an hour and a half on a Saturday morning once a month and always publicise our litter picks here on this page, where we also report on our activity after each litter pick. Thanks to those who joined in on Sat 5th Feb and to Rachel for coming along with her family. Between us we collected 7 sacks of rubbish and 6 of recyclables. We hope to meet again in March, so do keep an eye on this page for updates!
