Help clean up Cannock

Hi, I'm Holly and I'm starting out litter picking to help make the area I live in cleaner and more attractive. I walk to work some days and I always marvel at how much rubbish there is, especially after bin collection days and it stays on the streets for weeks, so I wanted to do something about it! Alone but hopefully not for long, I have started picking litter in my area to make it a cleaner and more enjoyable place for everyone. I hope as I get more experience at this I can rally together the troops to start a regular litter picking group to help out and clean up Sopwell! Formed by residents of Stanton Harcourt and Sutton with support from the parish council, we litter pick on the second Saturday or each month (to coincide with the Village Market) with an annual event encouraging widespread participation in March.

Our groups main aim is to improve the local environment so that it looks cleaner and more presentable as the litter in the area is spoiling the look of where we live and work. We would like to bring together the working community of the business park in order to clean things up a bit by keeping the area litter free. We feel that this would be a great opportunity to meet some of our neighbours, get some gentle exercise and achieve something really valuable at the same time.

The Hilltop Litter Pickers aim to keep our attractive rural town clean and litter free, both for residents and for the thousands of visitors to its picturesque Gold Hill every year. The group work closely with both the Dorset Waste Partnership and Shaftesbury Town Council. We have been sponsored by the Shaftesbury Chamber of Commerce and local companies Imprint Graphics and Going Underground. Financial support has also been provided through the Community Matters scheme funded by our local Waitrose supermarket in Gillingham. The team meets at the Tesco recycling site, off Christy\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Lane, at 2.30pm on the first and third Wednesdays of every month. New volunteers are always welcome.

Ramsgate Litter Forum is a liaison body made up of local voluntary groups meeting regularly with Thanet District Council and Ramsgate Town Council to address litter and waste issues in and around the town of Ramsgate together.

My aim is to raise awareness of the growing problem of litter in our society and through example, re educate people and instill pride in the place they live in by picking up litter as I go
