Meet at 10am on The Green and help us keep the village looking tidy and clear. All welcome. Litter sticks etc. provided. Free chips to all children who come along, thanks to Ruby's Fish and Chip Shop. Unfortunately, we were unable to attract the scouts or cadets to help us with our litter pick this time. We attracted 5 members of Friends of Thringstone plus one youngster (the granddaughter of one of the members). We only stayed out for an hour and a quarter, but managed to clear the area and woodland of 9 bags of rubbish. As always, this is an ongoing thing, and we continue to litter pick daily round the streets and twice a week in the woodlands..

The clean up involved clearing communal areas inside the flats, garages and the outside area. We live here and care about our neighbourhood. It is up to us to look after it and make it a nice place to live. Our ground-zero is Sheerwater Recreation Area. This is a heavily used open space which many of us enjoy using. Because it is so popular it inevitably attracts a lot of rubbish - but this is an easy, and rewarding, problem to deal with. Once we've cleaned up the park on one of our regular n0 $#!+ sessions, then we extend our reach outwards along the canal and neighbouring areas to cover as much as we can.
