On Saturday 29th March we’re going to be cleaning up the Rail Lands and along the stream by the allotments towards Preston Park. Please join us at the Goods Shed at 10.30am – The Royal Oak pub has kindly offered to provide refreshments at the end of the litter-pick around 12.00/12.30. Hope to see you there – litter-picking equipment will be provided but please wear clothing suitable for the weather and wellies if you want to work near the stream. Tidy Tetbury Team joined forces with The Rail Lands Project to carry out a litter-pick from the Goods Shed along the path towards Preston Park on Saturday 29th March. Following the generous donation of litter-picking equipment from The Feoffees of Tetbury, the Team felt well up to the task. Happily, the weather was perfect and, in bright sunshine, 17 of us made our way up the stream towards Preston Park, retrieving years’ worth of rubbish that had accumulated along the banks of the stream.
Over one and a half hours, we had collected a whole skip-worth of stuff, including oil drums, a vacuum cleaner, rolls of carpet and many other abandoned items. At the end of the session, we all retired to the Royal Oak pub where Kate Lewis and her team laid on a magnificent spread to reward the tired but fulfilled members of the team. George Monck, coordinator of Tidy Tetbury Team, commented : “This was a magnificent effort and removed a number of eyesores from what is now a much more pleasant and beautiful area to walk through. I am delighted that so many people have joined Tidy Tetbury Team to spend time doing really worthwhile and extremely fulfilling work. Apart from meeting new people, we showed that you can make a huge difference to the look of a place with just 90 minutes’ worth of team workâ€. .
