Annie Harrison (Trustee)

Annie Harrison (Trustee) enjoyed a 25-year career in public relations working mainly in the built environment – her largest collaborative project being Eurotunnel, as it transitioned from a construction company into a train operating company. Always environmentally conscious (and more recently environmentally anxious), Annie was fortunate to have worked on a sustainability project for UNEP (UN Environment Program). Annie’s co-owned PR consultancy, Tideway Communications, was the only PR company to be appointed by parliament to promote the green aspects of Portcullis House (the new parliamentary building), in advance of its opening, to an extremely cynical media.

Annie is passionate about the environment and a keen supporter of Whitstable Marine Environment Group and Surfers Against Sewage. She undertakes weekly beach cleans and lobbies local government on improving litter awareness, recycling and moving towards plastic-free living. She is vegetarian, but regrets that she is a failed vegan.

Annie is a member of Soroptimists International (Canterbury) a global women’s organisation. Soroptimists inspire action to transform the lives of women and girls around the world. Her remit in Canterbury is to organise regular clean ups along the coast and in the countryside.

Annie is also a weekly volunteer at Catching Lives, a charity day care centre for the homeless in Canterbury.
