In response to the increased litter levels as lock-down rules start to be lifted, some of you have told us that you are ready to start litter-picking again. We also know that many of you are still not comfortable to litter-pick again yet.  We do not in any way want to make anyone feel as though they should be back out there if they are not ready. However, we DO want to support anyone who is choosing to litter-pick right now.  You can now meet outside in a group of up to 30 people.  Please see the Government guidelines for further details https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

To join this group please create an account or login

The group now has over 100 members. It organises monthly litter picks, and members also litter pick in their own local areas.

An important part of our work is with young people. We have met with Junior schools, Brownies and Cubs, and talked about the reduction of litter and recycling.

We liaise with other environmental groups in the area, particularly those with similar aims to ours and we work closely with the local Borough Council.

We have a website:- www.sandbach-cleanteam.co.uk

Tonbridge Litter Pickers
Recently I have been on a mission to clean up the litter in my local area and I need help from local people. The aim of the group is to tackle litter blackspots in Tonbridge and the surrounding area, especially around local woods, paths, parks and local playgrounds. Litter can be harmful to wildlife, and its not nice to see when walking in the local park with my son. I want to organise local litter picking/clean up days to improve the local environment for everyone. In times when the local councils are cutting funds for street cleaners the litter problem will be sure to get worse, we all have a responsibility to improve our local environment. If we all protected the environment from littering it would improve the area for everyone. If you have any questions please email me. Thanks. Sara

I am retired and collect litter as an individual. I collect litter every morning when I am at home, weather permitting. I deal with about 1km of roads, pavements and open spaces near to where I live, (Herbert Road, Bolton Road, Arthur Street, Regent Park Road), collecting an average of around 14 bags a week. I report fly tipping whenever it occurs and liaise with the local authority Waste Management Team. The photos show the general area that I look after. People find it hard to believe that these streets are in Small Heath given the area is not known for its cleanliness! In the first year I have collected 541 bags. The quantity does seem to be getting a bit less, so let’s hope local people are starting to enjoy living in a more litter free environment.

Witham Wombles
We are a voluntary litter picking group in Witham, Essex, who are passionate about keeping our local area tidy and free of litter. We meet up once a month at various locations across the town and are always looking for new volunteers! We love getting the community together and have previously had amazing assistance from the Witham & District Lionesses as well as local schools and Brownies and Beavers groups. We have also been interviewed by BBC Essex and received a Community & Safety Award from Witham Neighbourhood Watch! If you believe an area should be considered for our litter pick locations, please get in touch and let us know. We are also on Facebook and Twitter @WithamWombles
