In response to the increased litter levels as lock-down rules start to be lifted, some of you have told us that you are ready to start litter-picking again. We also know that many of you are still not comfortable to litter-pick again yet.  We do not in any way want to make anyone feel as though they should be back out there if they are not ready. However, we DO want to support anyone who is choosing to litter-pick right now.  You can now meet outside in a group of up to 30 people.  Please see the Government guidelines for further details https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

RALLY - Rosemead Community Action Group

To join this group please create an account or login

We are a local community action group consisting of residents, some business owners, aiming to improve our local area, working with relevant authorities and organisations for the local park, Rosemead Park, shops and surrounding area of Oadby, just outside Leicester. Our key words are PRIDE AND RESPECT. We have occasional meetings addressed by local council officials, e.g. Grounds maintenance officer, Public cleansing supervisor, Local police, Youth project social workers. Litterpicks every so often, and a newsletter distributed to over 900 householders. We also play a part in the Britain in Bloom competition, and are currently putting pressure on the local council to improve the park, especially the play area.

Allington Alligators
Unfortunately our monthly organised events have been suspended at the moment as MBC do not have the staff available to collect the full bags during the pandemic. My advice currently is not to go out litterpicking as individuals either, as its surprisingly busy on the streets and not everyone is following the social distancing rules plus the same applies as above to the council not being able to collect the bags. THhs is all very frustrating I know as March is a great time to see and pick litter, but follow the advice and hopefully we will be in action soon. Stay safe. Regards, April

Clean Up Devizes Squad
CUDS was formed primarily to litter pick around our town and its environs. We do so about 4 times a month for 2 hours each time and then have a cup of tea and the all-important biscuits. We also strip useless bits of turf off areas, dig over, plant bulbs and sow wildflower seeds which we maintain on 2 roundabouts and various other places. At present we have about 28 members. We are not a charity - we are funded by grants for which I apply and have back-up from Dervizes Town Council's Park and Open Spaces team when we can't shift all the stuff we have collected ourselves. When we started over 3 years ago, we were viewed with some suspicion - as in 'Are you all doing Community Payback?' and so forth - interesting to think that a great group of oldies would be doing that! Now, in our bright blue hivis vests emblazed with CUDS on the back, nearly everybody knows who we are - and if they don't, they must have been asleep. We work with local groups - Beavers, the Canoe Club, The Lions at their Fair and recently with The Fulltone Orchestra at their free event in the Market Place. We are also planning our reward - apart from cake, which we have before our summer and Christmas breaks. This time we are going on a day out to visit various gardens in Somerset - it's great to be sociable and many have made firm friends within our group.
