In response to the increased litter levels as lock-down rules start to be lifted, some of you have told us that you are ready to start litter-picking again. We also know that many of you are still not comfortable to litter-pick again yet.  We do not in any way want to make anyone feel as though they should be back out there if they are not ready. However, we DO want to support anyone who is choosing to litter-pick right now.  You can now meet outside in a group of up to 30 people.  Please see the Government guidelines for further details https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Litter-free Eccles

To join this group please create an account or login

There is a high volume of litter in Eccles; the streets are cleared of litter on a three week cycle by council workers but this is not sufficient. The aim of this group is to engender a sense of pride amongst local residents for their local area

Witham Wombles
We are a voluntary litter picking group in Witham, Essex, who are passionate about keeping our local area tidy and free of litter. We meet up once a month at various locations across the town and are always looking for new volunteers! We love getting the community together and have previously had amazing assistance from the Witham & District Lionesses as well as local schools and Brownies and Beavers groups. We have also been interviewed by BBC Essex and received a Community & Safety Award from Witham Neighbourhood Watch! If you believe an area should be considered for our litter pick locations, please get in touch and let us know. We are also on Facebook and Twitter @WithamWombles

Cleaner Northfleet and Highways
I litter pick my local area of Hog Lane and Downs Northfleet Istead Kent. The task is continuous due to the semi-rural roads subject to frequent flytipping and general littering from the local weekend visitors who use the lane as a domestic refuse bin. I have been lobbying our Government, Kent County Council and Highways England to provide a proper litter picking regime for our national strategy motorway and A road network. At the moment, the system is broken and all concerned are in denial about the problem and refuse to acknowledge change. There is a really good website owned and managed by Peter Silverman who has dedicated his time to challenge Government and Highways England but he needs all our support. This can be achieved simply by leaving any comments about our littered motorways and A roads or just any ideas you may have for change. His website is growing in support and any comments you make will be sent each month to the ministers and Highways England senior management. Please go onto his website and support him with this challenging problem. It is only us, the taxpayers that will make Government listen in the end. The website link is: www.cleanhighways.co.uk

St. Briavels Beautifiers
I am the sole member of this group so far and would like to recruit other like-minded, local litter-killers. I've armed myself with a litter-picker-upper stick, bought online for a tenner, and I use recycled, plastic, supermarket bags for the collections. I walk around my village on litter-spotting missions every now and then with my fiance and our baby daughter. Good exercise and the lanes look much nicer. 'Hotspots' for litter are the bus shelter and the playing fields. Great feeling of satisfaction too. My aim is to keep our beautiful village 100% litter-free.

Bulford wombles
I am currently dismayed at the sheer amount of trash littered on Salisbury plain and surrounding villages. I am happy to clean myself and happy to work with others if they want.
