Severn View and Severn Way Footpath Litter Pick Saturday 26th May Meet at Servern View Services by the Old Severn Bridge (in front of the Services café, to the left by dog walking area) between 9.30 and 9.45 am to sort out equipment etc. We'll meet back at the café afterwards for drinks etc. Everyone welcome. If you need a lift or further information please get in touch. This area is looking pretty shabby and could do with some of our TLC ! So good to see so many of you at the event this morning. Also good to see some new (and younger !) faces who joined us. I think we did a brilliant job, tidying up a very messy coastal footpath and surroundings. The Severn View Services were very pleased to see us I think - offering all 19 of us free drinks. But well done all - you very much deserved them. I counted up 25 bags of rubbish collected between us including last weeks coastal pick at Old Passage by Jenny & Joss. A big thank you for turning out, despite the damp weather.

Weeley Wombleys
We started as Weeley Wombleys in 2017 as so many residents had expressed their concerns about the amount of litter appearing everywhere, and we are now part of Weeley in Bloom. There are several take-aways in the area, and the detritus was mounting up so much Tendring District Council couldn\'t keep on top of it. We litter pick on the first Monday morning of the month, and there is usually a hard-core of about 15 residents who pick regularly. We also encourage residents to keep their frontages as clear of rubbish as possible and the area has seemed a lot tidier since we started. We have been into the local School wearing our home-made WeeleyWombley costumes, together with McDonalds (our Corporate partner), to encourage the primary school children to litter pick, and to take their litter home with them. McDonalds also very kindly have a member of staff litter picking around the Village practically every day, which is very much appreciated.

Gamston Litter Pickers
Rubbish disposal and fly tipping is becoming an increasing problem nationally compounded by reduced services across the counties. Many communities are taking it upon themselves to get out and tidy up their local areas by grabbing a bag and a litter picker and spending an hour or so in their immediate local area picking up discarded rubbish. If you are interested in meeting up once a month then please come along on the third Saturday, and together we can make a difference to rubbish and fly tipping in our area. All equipment is provided, including ‘kids kits’ so that children can participate safely too. We meet at 10am at the Gamston Village Hall and are out for a maximum of 2 hours. The monthly litter picking is in Gamston but the equipment is available for all residents of the villages of Adbolton, Bassingfield, Gamston and Holme Pierrepont to use.
