Ringstead mini pick

Northfield Avenue,Kettering,nn16 9hu

24 Jan 2018

00:00

Whilst attempting to fish in the heaviest rain of the year, me and a friend picked about 20 pieces of plastic from the donut and the river/lake section. Mostly historical litter, but there were a few Polish beer cans on the first lake, behind the new Otter fencing, so it's a bit cleaner than when we arrived. We also travelled on the A509 to Wellingborough, when on route to the Ouse at Harrold. It was the absolute worst litter I've ever seen in the UK or any where else in Europe, even Serbia! I am planning to pick it, but significant pressure from harrassment at work by one individual, has meant being forced to do approx 50hrs per week, so that leaves me little time to recover and get time to do the picking..

St. Briavels Beautifiers
I am the sole member of this group so far and would like to recruit other like-minded, local litter-killers. I've armed myself with a litter-picker-upper stick, bought online for a tenner, and I use recycled, plastic, supermarket bags for the collections. I walk around my village on litter-spotting missions every now and then with my fiance and our baby daughter. Good exercise and the lanes look much nicer. 'Hotspots' for litter are the bus shelter and the playing fields. Great feeling of satisfaction too. My aim is to keep our beautiful village 100% litter-free.
