Minstead January Litter Pick

Unit One, The Swan Centre,Eastleigh,SO50 5SG

11 Jan 2017

00:00

We will be meeting as usual in the Andrew Mare car park at 10am We were again, so lucky with the weather. The night before it was pouring down and it was the next day as well. But the morning if the litter pick, apart from a bit of wind, there was bright sunshine and blue skies. Callum from Picket Post came with us. Jayne from Swaythling was unwell so unable to make it. We were joined by Tessa, her husband Chris, their neighbour Andrew, who has joined us at every litter pick now. We were also joined by 2 ladies that I have not met before. We set off in different directions, to cover as much distance as possible. Tessa, Chris, myself & Callum set off towards Minstead whilst the others set off towards the A31. I was p[leased that there certainly wasn't as much rubbish as we have found previously. We were followed a lot of the time by a group of ponies who were very curious about what we were doing! After nearly 2 hours we met up with our "finds". We collected 5 bags between us. .

South Common Litter Picking Crew
I set up the group on realizing there were areas of Lincoln's South Common where litter had been accumulating for years. We have managed to get on top of this situation and are now kept busy due to litter being left around the ponds and viewpoints around the common throughout the year . Since I started picking it I've seen weasels fighting, dear, buzzards and kestrel, herron, partridge and pheasants which, for me, makes it one of the most enjoyable places to pick in Lincoln.

Clean Street Exmouth
Clean Street Exmouth endeavours to keep the town clean and tidy by co-opting individuals who volunteer to adopt their street or area. We supply postcards for them to deliver to neighbours which invite them to help keep their street clean on a day-by-day basis. We also supply a postcard which adopters can use to organise 1-hour street cleans involving litter and weed removal. We cooperate with the district and town council cleaning services eg: joint 1-hour cleans to recruit new adopters and to show the improvement residents can make.

myself and a couple of like minded individuals have been litter picking our local parks, back lanes and mountains for as long as we can remember. the amount of rubbish we are finding is getting worse and worse so we are aiming to do as much as we possibly can so that we can get our parks, lanes and country sides back to how they should be... litter free! our aim is to show people that it's super fun, cool and easy to make that little bit of difference to the environment, hopeing that they will join in on our quest to keep the earth clean.

North West London Clean Up
If you're reading this you're probably already aware that there is a serious litter problem and something must be done! As well as solo daily pickings while walking the dogs, I'm also organising various community clean-ups, mostly a monthly one at the Welsh Harp. I have lots of equipment which I'm very happy to lend out, as well as welcoming suggestions for other areas that need a clean-up. Please contact if you wish to get involved.
