Dark Lane Clean Up 2

Shaftesbury,SP7 8DT

23 Jul 2013

23:00

Meet in the Barton Hill free car park at the usual time of 2pm for the sequel to the '18-rated' horror original. With the temporary encampment now cleared, this should be 'PG' rated, involving collecting the usual cans, bottles and crisp packets from both the lane and the Motcombe road. Refreshments provided if the weather continues hot and sunny. After assembling at Barton Hill, 11 members split into three teams. One completed the clean up of Dark Lane and also tackled the Motcombe road and parts of New Road. The second worked around Ivy Cross and the convenience store in particular, while the third cleared Christy's Lane and around the Boys' Club. With the litter exposed by the recent grass cutting now collected, the area looks a lot cleaner. Some 11 bags of rubbish were collected, bringing our group total to 323 bags. A big thank you from the DWP team at the Longmead depot. .

Coventry Canal
I am an individual who walks part of the Coventry canal to and from work everyday. I have only been walking along the canal since October 2017 despite being a Coventrian my entire life! It is the city's best kept secret and so peaceful and calm away from crowds and cars. But it makes me angry and sad to see such a beautiful habitat ruined with litter so I started picking litter! I usually pick on my way to/from work in the week but I plan to do more at the weekends and travel further to notoriously messy parts of the canal. If anyone would care to join me to make a difference and tidy up for the animals and all of us to enjoy, please get in touch :) Thank you, Jennysha P.S. There is now a new Canal & River Trust Towpath Taskforce which runs on Thursday mornings - please see CRT website for more info. Give as much or as little time as you can :) Please report any flytipping via: 1) website: fixmystreet.com 2) email: enquiries.westmidlands@canalrivertrust.org.uk

Erdington Litter Busters
Erdington Litter Busters was founded in June 2018 by Rob Gunnell. The idea was to start cleaning up Erdington bit by bit, then grow into a community of volunteers who could keep the area clean. Now we have some support, and a growing group of us meet up twice a month on Saturday mornings near Six Ways island, clear different areas, and have a friendly coffee afterwards. The more people that help us, the greater the difference we can make - and people are already seeing the area improving.
