Cronton Pathways Members' Meeting

38 Wheatfield Road,,Cronton,Widnes,WA8 5BU

16 Jan 2012

00:00

Cronton Pathways members will be meeting on Monday 16th January at 4pm at the Parish Council office on Hampton Drive, Cronton. The agenda will include planning of the Spring Clean-Up event and the next programme of Health Walks. The following was agreed at the meeting on 16th January 2012 *The next set of Health Walks will begin on Tuesday, 7th February at Holy Family Club between 1pm and 3pm. Now that there are 6 trained walk leaders the intention is to provide both a short and longer walk each time we walk, to provide for the differing needs of our group of faithful walkers. A printed programme of walks will be available on the 7th February and will also be published on the Cronton Parish Council website - www.cronton.org . Anyone is welcome to come and join these walks and is asked to dress according to the conditions on the day.

There is a short health questionnaire which needs to be completed and signed for insurance purposes but other than that there are no restrictions on who walks with us. Walkers come whenever they can fit it in. The walk leaders will be working on the risk assessments for all our walks in preparation for the new programme. *The Spring Clean will be held for one day in March and we intend to focus on Cronton Road, westwards from the Unicorn, taking in the area opposite the Unicorn, the pathways/hedgerows along Cronton Road as far as and including Tue Lane, hoping also to tackle Alder Lane, manpower permitting. We will arrange with Knowsley MBC Neighbourhood team to remove the bags we pick as soon after collection as possible. *We continue to look into further funding avenues, having just received a donation of £500 from Knowsley Community Chest Fund, as we would like to provide more notice boards in the area and improve the provision of litter bins. To that end we are looking into the CPRE scheme of 'Parish Litter Wardens', which may result in an honorarium of £100 for expenses for the person appointed. .

I would like to focus on the local nature reserve. It is such a wonderful place but unfortunately trash can be found everywhere. I would like to find some wonderful people and together clean this area as it\'s not only a great place to admire nature, go for a run, a hike or walk your dog, but it is also home to a wide range of wildlife species
