12 Nov 2011

00:00

Our next two-day clean-up will be on Friday 11th November 2011 and Saturday 12th November 2011. All volunteers welcome to meet at 10 a.m. on Holy Family car park. Litter-pickers, gloves and bags will be provided. Thank you to all those who took part in the Cronton Pathways Autumn Clean-Up. Over three days in November about twenty volunteers cleared seventy bags of litter from the highways and byways in and around Cronton and Pex Hill. Thanks also to ~ ï‚· Cronton Garden Centre for helping to transport our bags of litter to the central collection point and for providing much-needed hot drinks for our thirsty volunteers. ï‚· The Parthenon Daycare Centre, Norris Green, supported by BTCV for clearing litter on Pex Hill. ï‚· Knowsley Council for ensuring the efficient removal of our bags of litter. ï‚· Sam ~ our latest and youngest recruit who single-handedly cleared litter from Penny Lane.

TO EVERYONE WHO HELPS MAKE OUR COMMUNITY A CLEANER AND BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN ~ THANK YOU..

Fishponds Clean Streets
Fishponds Clean Streets was established in 2016 and is run by a few volunteers with the aim of helping keep the streets cleaner of litter. There was an extended period owing to COVID restrictions when we were not able to operate, however we are back up and running again now. We usually meet for an hour and a half on a Saturday morning once a month and always publicise our litter picks here on this page, where we also report on our activity after each litter pick. Thanks to those who joined in on Sat 5th Feb and to Rachel for coming along with her family. Between us we collected 7 sacks of rubbish and 6 of recyclables. We hope to meet again in March, so do keep an eye on this page for updates! In the meantime, if you are new to litter picking in Fishponds and interested in getting involved, please contact us at: CleanerFishponds@gmail.com for more information. Louise, Pete, Carol & Stuart

Village Action Litter Busters
We are part of the Frampton Cotterell and Coalpit Heath Village Action initiative. We aim to co-ordinate the efforts of local people in promoting awareness of the problem of litter; improving attitudes; and taking part in monthly organised litter picking, with the aim of keeping our villages pleasant and pretty. We know that many residents look after the roadsides and paths adjacent to their own homes and wish to encourage this. Some of our members carry chalk to mark dog fouling on pavements, to help people avoid stepping in it and to tell irresponsible dog owners that they should be clearing up after their pet. Litter picking can be very rewarding, and is an opportunity to get out and make new contacts in the village. Please get in touch if you can help in any way, however small. Please email us if there is any particular area in the village over which you have concerns about litter. In 2012 Nisa - Village Roots in Woodend Road gave us some funds and we have bought some hi-viz vests with 'Volunteer - Village Action Litter Busters' printed on them. We are grateful for their continuing support. South Glos Council support us with sacks, picker sticks and bag hoops. See Upcoming Events for dates and meeting points for monthly litter picks. Please see our gallery below for some pictures of our members, including two younger litter busters!
