British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) to clear Pex Hill area of litter. Meet at the Visitor Centre at 10.30 a.m. Today British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) joined with local residents and students to clear Pex Hill of the mounting piles of litter left by its many visitors. We were relatively few in number but we succeeded in clearing most of the Pex Hill area and had a good try at clearing the Quarry area. Students from The Shaw Trust (pic 1), Halton 6th Form College (pic 2) and Sutton High 6th Form (pic 3) joined with local residents and BTCV staff, Eric and Arthur, to undertake this task. Knowsley Council supported the venture by supplying plastic bags and by removing the filled bags at the end of the day. During the afternoon children, teachers and helpers from Holy Family School were the first to enjoy the newly clean surroundings as they used the area for some environmental studies.

It is to be hoped that this standard of cleanliness can be maintained, not just by the volunteers who cleared it but by the visitors who use the area everyday. The next date for your diary if you are interested in helping to clean up the area of Cronton is Friday 21st May. Meet at Holy Family car park at 10.30 a.m. This is part of a renewed campaign to keep our pathways clean and tidy. See the latest Cronton Parish Council Newsletter for more information. Log on to the new Parish Council website at www.cronton.org for wider information about the area. .
